Paper Plate Dinosaurs
Grade: 2nd grade
Maryland VSC: (Visual Arts) 2.1.1.b. Represent observed physical qualities of people, animals, and objects in the environment using color, line, shape, texture, form, and space.
Maryland VSC: (Science) 2.1.D.1.a. Make something out of paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, metal, or existing objects that can actually be used to perform a task.
Maryland VSC: (Science) 2.3.D.1.c. Recognize that some kinds of organisms have completely disappeared.

The purpose of this lesson is for students to create a unique dinosaur using paper plates and a pre-drawn stencil (that the teacher prepares ahead of time). After the students create their dinosaur, students will come up with an original name for their dinosaur based on a special physical characteristic of their dinosaur.
