Problem of the Week
Description:
This "bulletin board" was created using a pocket folder displayed on the wall since there was no more bulletin board space in the room. Each week, two different problems were created and put into the pockets, which were available to the students to complete as an early finisher activity when all other work had been completed. Students were allowed to choose 1 problem to complete throughout the week. Students must get the problem right and show all of their work in order to get credit for doing the problem. Once students finished the problem, they put it in the "Completed Work" pocket. Every weekend I took the completed work home to grade for correctness and completion and on Monday, I put the worksheets on the students' desk with a candy treat if they earned it. This was a great way to review past skills that have been learned or to practice skills that they just learned. Sometimes the problems of the week included skills the students haven't learned yet to give them a challenge.
