Maryland VSC: 3.3.E.1.a. Identify and compile a list of materials that can be recycled.
The purpose of this 3-day lesson is for students to identify what it means to recycle, what materials are recyclable, and the importance of recycling by making an insect out of recyclable materials, which have been collected by the teacher, students, and parents throughout the school year. Students will be conducting research about their insect, and construct it using the provided recycled materials. Students will also share and describe the insect that they construct by identifying the parts that make their model an insect.
