Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet and Halloween Trick-or-Treat Bags
Grade: 1st grade
Maryland VSC: (Reading/ELA) 1.3.A.6.c. Summarize the text by stating the main idea and sequencing the important events.
Maryland VSC: (Visual Arts) 1.3.1.c. Create artworks that explore the use of color, line, shape, texture, and form, and selected principles of design, such as pattern and repetition, to express ideas, thoughts, and feelings.

The purpose of this lesson is to review summarizing by having the students identify the beginning, middle, and ending of a story, as well as teach the students how to sort that information into a story wheel chart. As a fun Halloween activity, students will also be making Trick-or-Treat bags to Trick-or-Treat with in the classroom.
