"We Know Our Nouns"
Description:
This bulletin board was created to display my students' work from my nouns lesson. Since my students were fifth grades and were pretty knowledgeable about nouns, I decided to go with another type of activity for nouns instead of our usually in-depth practice. As an assessment to the lesson, I had the students create a collage of the four types of nouns: person, place, thing, and idea. Students had to come up with one example of each type of noun. Students did this by cutting out pictures from magazines (which they brought in or I provided) or by drawing pictures. The option of using magazines or drawing pictures differentiated the lesson in order to meet the needs of the students. The work that I got from the students was really creative, and I felt that this would make a great bulletin board display outside of the classroom so that everyone could see the hard work that my class put into their collages.
